Walter Holtan, DVM

Dr. Holtan is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and has been practicing veterinary medicine for 32 years. 

When he's not practicing, Dr. Holtan enjoys fly fishing, ballroom dancing, and spending time with his grandchildren in Grass Valley, California.

Anthony George, DVM Veterinarian and

Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist

Dr. George has been with Santa Monica Pet Medical Center for 20 years.  He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology from U.C. Davis in 1986.  He continued to receive his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from U.C. Davis in 1990.  The following year Dr. George completed an internship program at Coast Pet Clinic in Hermosa Beach.

In addition to practicing general western medicine and surgery, Dr. George has a special interest in traditional Chinese medicine and is certified by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. 

Michael Yuan, DVM

Dr. Michael Yuan has been with Santa Monica Pet Medical Center for 7 years.  He attended the University of Pennsylvania's veterinary school, graduating in 1997.  Dr. Yuan made his way back to his native Southern California after first practicing in Reno, Nevada.

Currently, he and his wife are owned by two cats.  Their life with cats inspired him to create a comic strip called Cat Boxes, which you can find at: Catboxes.comicdish.com.  In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, hiking and playing poker.

Annie Hernandez, DVM

Dr. Hernandez has been with Santa Monica Pet Medical Center for 12 years.  She is a native of the San Fernando Valley.  Dr. Hernandez has a Bachelor of Science from Stanford University.  She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from University of Illinois.  Dr. Hernandez practiced for one year in Durham, North Carolina before returning to Southern California and joining SMPMC

Dr. Hernandez shares her home with her husband and her three dogs, "Pickles", "Emmerson" and "Scooter".  In her spare time she enjoys skiing, triathlon, running marathons, and taking piano lessons.

Mary Isaacs, DVM

Dr. Isaacs has recently joined our staff as Medical Director.  Born in Santa Monica, she received her Bachelor’s degree from UCLA and her DVM from UC Davis.

Dr. Isaacs lives with her dog, two cats, several birds, fish, reptiles, whatever temporarily crawls in from outside and, oh yes, a husband. She loves mountain biking, traveling to strange places, cooking and eating completely unexpected food items.
